Over time many have asked Lessons-Direct questions prior to subscribing to our online math tutoring and test preparation program. We found that many of the questions were asked over and over. Anticipating some of the questions that a new subscriber may have, we have provided answers to Frequently Asked Questions. - How do I know that the problems offered in the program are the same type of problems that I will see on my mathematics proficiency examination?

Question: How do I know that the problems offered in the program are the same type of problems that I will see on my mathematics proficiency examination?
The Lessons-Direct program includes all of the major categories of math problems that generally appear on mathematics proficiency examinations. In addition, within each category of problem is a listing of the specific types of problems that might appear within that given problem category. Lessons-Direct has intentionally included samples of the vast majority of these problems, either in the fully worked out solutions or in the Additional Practice Problems.
Benefit to Subscribers: Using this program should remove most of the element of surprise by providing exposure to the problems you will see on the actual mathematics examination.
Question: What makes this program so different from other test preparation courses?
Most test preparation courses present sample problems, and teach you to memorize a variety of solutions. The problem with this is that when subtle changes are introduced in the problem, the memorized solution does not work, and you get the wrong answer. Lessons-Direct will teach you a unique approach to solving a variety of problems and teach you how to correctly think through math problems to get the correct answers.

Question: I know that the program is 3-months, but I don't have 3-months to prepare for my important math examination. Does that mean that I can't get the full benefit of the program?
This is not a 3-month program, you have unlimited online access to the program for 3-months. There is a big difference between the two. Since everyone studies at different rates, and able to commit different amounts of time to study – some will get the full benefits of the program in a short period of time, whereas others will need the entire 3-months. The program allows you to work as quickly as you need to.

Question: Do I need any special computer equipment to get the most out of this program?
Most computers with Internet browsers are generally more than adequate for using this program. An Internet browser is the screen you are looking at right now. Even though most browsers will work, the program is best viewed using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0. The program provides detailed instructions for downloading this browser if you don’t already have it. This strongly recommended browser is available for free and can be quickly downloaded to your computer. In addition, you can use a dial-up modem (found in almost every computer), but since this program is an interactive learning tool, either a DSL or cable high-speed modem will greatly enhance both your learning and overall Internet experience.

Question: I’m a little new with using a computer. Is this program going to be too difficult for me to use?
This program is very user-friendly. This means that if you know how to click your mouse like you have just done, you know enough to easily use the entire program. Before you work on your first problem, the online instructions that come with the program will show samples of the various screens you will see when working through problems.

Question: How can I check to know that I understand what I’ve gained from the program?
In addition to the regular problems that are fully developed and presented in the program, there are an additional 50 problems that test your understanding of particular problems within a specific category of problems. In these Additional Practice Problems, you will be presented with the same level or greater difficulty as the problems in the program. Lessons-Direct hopes that you would have mastered the approach to solving the problem, but it does not provide you with additional assistance. First, with all of these additional problems, we will provide you with a suggestion as to how to solve the problem. In addition, if there was a regular problem in the program that is similar, Lesson-Direct provides a direct link to that problem so that you will be able to review in detail the approach to solving the problem.

Question: If I have problems using the program, how do I get assistance?
This program is extremely user-friendly. This means that Lessons-Direct has invested considerable time and expertise to provide a program that will make a potentially stressful time preparing for your examination as simple and painless as possible. Question: I am not sure about what I know and don’t know; how can I determine my areas of strength and weakness in mathematics?
You won’t have to determine your strengths and weaknesses – Lessons-Direct will do it for you! Following registration for the program, you will have to take an online Initial Diagnostic Examination. This test contains a wide variety of types of math problems. Lessons-Direct will evaluate the results of your diagnostic examination, and email you the results that will separate your areas of math weakness and strength.

Question: OK, your program will tell me where I am weak in math; do I have to go through the entire program to focus on my areas of weakness?
This program not only permits you to go directly to any particular problem that you might be working on, it also has a screen with all of the problems separated by category. Once Lessons-Direct shows you your areas of weakness, you can quickly go to the group of problems in that area to work on. In addition, the Additional Practice Problems are grouped by category, so after you confident that you understand a category of problems, you can reinforce your knowledge in the areas you were once weak.

Question: I know how to do the math, but when it is time to take the actual examination, I get uncontrollably nervous and mess up. Is there any way the program can help me in that area?
Don’t be embarrassed, getting nervous before a test happens to most of us and is normal. The program will help you to be in charge of your emotions. First, after seeing and knowing how to solve so many types of problems – nervousness resulting from fear of the unknown will be minimal. Question: Even though the solution of problems are presented and explained in detail, what if I need more assistance?
This program is intended to assist subscribers in passing their teacher certification examination in mathematics. It is assumed that subscribers to the program have at some time had exposure to the most of the types of problems that will appear on the examination. In almost all cases, subscribers will learn things about mathematics that they did not know before. If the detailed explanations found in the program are inadequate, registering for in-classroom instruction is recommended.

Question: What is your refund policy?
On rare occasions an individual purchases a Lessons-Direct subscription and determines that the program is not for them. The refund policy is that a full refund will be provided to the subscriber if they make their request to Lessons-Direct via email within the first 24 hours following registration. It is therefore important for new subscribers to immediately review the entire program following registration.

When you select the 1-month subscription, you are hoping that you will pass your exam with one month of preparation. When you purchase 3-months, you essentially get three months for the price of two. If you do not pass the first time, you have a two additional months to continue studying. If you purchase a 1-month subscription and find that you need to purchase the additional 2-months, it will cost you an additional $190.
